Yesterday the Conservatives held a seat in Newcastle-Under-Lyme and Liberal Democrat David Murray was elected to Shifnal Town Council.

In the Newchapel ward of Newcastle-Under-Lyme the full result was:

Conservative 204 votes 33.1% (-11.0%)

UKIP 148 votes 24.0% (+10.5%)

Labour 138 votes 22.4% (=0.1%)

Liberal Democrat 127 votes 20.6% (+1.5%)

On Shifnal Town Council the full result was:

Tonkinson 289 35% elected

David Murray 157 19.1% elected

Stringfellow 143 17.3%

Jones B 100 12.1%

There are a few more by-elections coming up before we pause until the local elections on 6 May.

On Telford and Wrekin Council, there are two byelections on 11 February in College Ward and in The Nedge Ward.

On Wychavon District council there is a byelection on 18 February in Evesham South Ward.

There are also vacancies in:

Nuneaton and Bedworth Council in St Nicholas Ward

Rugby Borough Council in Dunchurch and Knightlow Ward due to the death of Liberal Democrat Councillor Ron Ravenhall

Sandwell Council in Rowley Ward

Stoke-on-Trent City council in Blurton Ward

Warwickshire County Council in Nuneaton St Nicholas Division

Wolverhampton City Council in Wednesfield North Ward

Worcester City council in Bedwardine Ward
