Conservative Councillor to stand down9.00.00am GMT Mon 1st Feb 2010 News reaches me that one of the Conservative Councillors for Wednesfield North - Councillor Charlotte Quarmby is standing down. This will almost certainly result in a by-election taking place on the same day as the scheduled local elections on May 6. Charlotte recently got married and is leaving, or has left, the area - of course I wish her well in the future. In other Wednesfield North news Derek Watts, the son of Lousia (the 106-year old, last resident of Underhill House) plans to stand as an Independent due to the closure of Underhill House. I suspect this will result in a split in the Labour vote and see two Tories returned at the election.
