Yesterday saw by-elections in both Wednesfield North and Wednesfield South wards of Wolverhampton City Council.

In North:

Conservative - 1295 votes 45.3%

Labour - 1072 votes 37.5%

BNP - 337 votes 11.8%

Ian Jenkins - Liberal Democrat - 156 votes 5.5%

In South:

Conservative - 1123 votes 45.2%

Labour - 867 votes 34.9%

BNP - 358 votes 14.4%

John Steatham - Liberal Democrat - 134 votes 5.4%

In North the Conservatives increased their vote slightly by 0.1%, Labour increased by 3.0%, The BNP lost 3.6% and the Liberal Democrats also increased slightly by 0.6%

In South it was slightly less straight forward as the BNP didn't stand in May, but the Conservatives dropped 16.2%, Labour increased by 8.0%, the Liberal Democrats dropped 1.4% and the BNP recorded 14.4%.
