Portillo backs Local Income Tax

Michael Portillo, the former Conservative MP and Minister for local government who helped introduce the Poll Tax has sent the error of his ways. He has now come out in favour of Local Income Tax as a replacement for Council Tax.

Portillo describe Local Income Tax as "… more buoyant and fairer than the property-based alternatives"
