Senator Barack Obama

Obama

Barack Obama appears to have secured the Democratic nomination for President, he is certainly claiming it and the delegate count from the Associated Press gives him it.

2,118 was the total needs, AP gives Obama 2,154 Delegates (1,765 from the the elections and 389 Super Delegates). Clinton has 1,919 Delegates (1,637 from the elections and 282 Super Delegates).

Obama won Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington state, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Clinton won Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Clinton won the popular vote in Nevada and Texas but Obama won more delegates, because of the methods used to allocate them.

The only unresolved question is what will happen next with regard to Clinton - Vice President?, Senate Leadership? or Supreme Court Judge?
